I'm Back, Thank Goodness

Hi everyone,
So, I haven't been reading in this group for 2-3 weeks -- even though it's my favorite place in the MFP universe. I haven't been to the gym in 2 1/2 weeks. I was overtrained, and then took a two week vacation. I am posting in here to hold myself accountable and to get back to it!
We got home Saturday evening. I didn't get to the gym yesterday and won't get there today. I gotta go tomorrow! Currently I feel ambivalent about it. I'm not looking forward to long gym sessions -- I need to somehow keep them below 60 minutes, but of course I don't know how.
What's really important is simply that I begin. I can work out the rest later.
So yeah -- tonight I'm packing my gym bag and I'm doing it tomorrow!

Welcome back! Are you still doing 5x5? If so, drop back to 3x5 and your sessions will be under an hour again. That's what I did!0

it's my favourite place too!
and welcome back
I've found 3x5 is under an hour deloaded, once I start building up again I'm not sure! at least get a deload workout in, remember how awesome it feels to be strong, and you'll work it out!0 -
Welcome back! Doing 3x5 instead of 5x5 will drop your workout time. Mine is creeping up again a little, but it's still under an hour for lifting.0

I reduce mine where possible by doing multiple exercises at once. While I'm waiting my 2-3 minutes for squats, I do my OHP. Cuts the time nearly in half and I haven't noticed a decline in performance. Sometimes this doesn't work, such as when it's busy enough that you can't hold the bench and the power rack at the same time. The fixed barbells are really helpful for this.0

Thanks everyone!
I am already doing 3X5. I'm actually doing Starting Strength but shhhhh don't tell anyone I don't want to get kicked out LOL.
Really, I just need the connection and encouragement to get back in there tomorrow. I know I will be fine once I get my groove back.0 -
Welcome back! I hope your vacation was great and that you rediscover your gym groove. :flowerforyou:0

I've never even done Stronglifts and they keep me around, so I'm pretty sure you're safe. :laugh:0 -

Well if that's what you believe, then I've got you all fooled, especially the "kind" part. :laugh:0
