Hiya, I am just abut to buy a fitbit - most probably a charge HR. I am very active training for a triathlon. I want the fitbit to give me a good estimate of my energy usage because sometimes I burn so much in different ways its difficult to pull it all together. Does anyone know what will happen if I sync garmin connect while I am syncing fitbit. I would still like to sync this because it guesses my energy usage for swimming and is quite accurate with cycling. If I keep syncing though what happens. Will the garmin overwrite the fitbit or will I double book. I am sure this has already been asked before so please forgive my double posting but I can't find the answer. Thanks in advance

I would sync Garmin to Fitbit and Fitbit to MFP: https://www.fitbit.com/apps/fitdatasync

Thanks very much for this. Seems like a great way forward :-) Should save any confusion in MFP too :-)

And ditto to what you are thinking for what estimates what - Fitbit for the running only.

And even there - because you'll need a fine line for success - confirm the distance you run is matched by Fitbit.

For walking/running exercise - it does combo HR and step based calorie burn.

Cycling would just be HR based, and it actually has a decent algorithm for calorie burn, that many have said compares well to nicer Polar HRM's.

Does your Garmin get close to the cycling calculators for calorie burn. Mine was badly off.

Do you have the Garmin that measures pool laps for calorie burn accuracy?

Wasn't aware they had a HRM beyond the ANT versions that are foiled by water blocking the signal.
