Hi, I am over my data plan, so I can't use wi-fi on my phone unless I'm at home. Does this mean that my Fitbit app will not track my route?

Do you have the dongle plugged into your pc at home? You don't need a phone for fibit to track.

MobileRun requires cellular service or wifi to track your route via GPS.

Depends on your cell carrier and phone model.

The phone needs assistance data to pinpoint what GPS satellites it's going to look for and use, and if not available what cell towers to trilaterate to in substitute.

Those bearing signals traditionally come down the signalling data stream, like text messages, and therefore aren't data like web pages and videos.

But some use Wifi points too and public database that does require data.

If data is disabled now - simple test. Open up maps and see if it'll pinpoint you.

Well, it did track me via GPS, so I guess that answered my question!! Although a very slow car going up and down my street scared the crap out of me while I walked my dog, and only got a 2 mile walk in.

Yikes, that's never good. Hopefully not deeply tinted full windows all around.
