Being a diabetic in America not only affects quality of life, but is also a heavy financial burden. The cost of insulin alone can be close to $5,000 a year. Medical advancements have brought insulin into the modern age and we have the capability to produce it synthetically and at much lower cost. So, why are people paying so much more for a life-saving drug?
The answer is drug patents. Essentially, drug companies reap in record profits on renewed insulin patents while those in need suffer under high costs. This gross misappropriation of priorities needs to come to an end! Sign now and tell the Commissioner of the FDA that generic affordable insulin is a necessity.
