On my dashboard is says that I am over budget and that I have 282 calories left in my budget. How can I be OVER budget but still have calories to use?

Does everyone basically ignore that?

    Ignore and remove that tile.

It is purely that instant in time, eaten vs burned.

Fitbit prorates your calories by time of day—and goes below 1,200. Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal, enable negative calorie adjustments, and follow your MFP calorie goal: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Yeah, that tile is totally confusing so most people ignore it. Later, it will probably show you being under budget again, if you continue being active and don't log more food. If you're trying to spread your food evenly over the day, it might be useful, but other than that, it isn't a lot of help.
