Anyone Tried Maffetone's Two Week Test?

Since I'm in the slow, aerobic base build-up phase to next year's running campaign, this might be the time to try this while I'm taking off a few pounds.

I had been reading a couple of Phil Maffetone's books on endurance training. It's pretty clear that he is a militant when it comes to refined and processed carbs, but I have seen something similar to his approach in Fitzgerald's New Rules for Marathon and Half-marathon Nutrition. I was wondering if anyone here has tried it and what their opinion was.
