Fridley Area Bike Riding

Hi all. I recently started working in Fridley and have just discovered the amazing bike trails in the area. I have been bringing my bike to work and then going for rides in the evenings (and now with this 694 construction madness I will delay my commute to Saint Paul as often as possible). Anyone know the trails well and interested in meeting up for a ride now and then during the week?

Hey StarryOne! I live in Fridley and might be interested, but not for another week or so, because I'm doing a half (Grandma's!) this weekend and resting next week. How far are you looking to ride? The Rice Creek Regional Trail is FANTASTIC west of 610. It goes out for miles and miles through Brooklyn Park, Champlin, and Maple Grove, plus it's paved and once you get past Noble, there are tunnels/bridges at every street so you don't have to stop or watch for traffic for a reeeeealllly long stretch.

If you post and I don't respond, inbox me or post on my wall because I'm not on here that consistently.
  • I also live in Fridley. If you have already discovered the Rice Creek trail that runs from East River Rd. past Locke Park and beyond to the east, you may also want to know about the connecting trail that leads to Long Lake in New Brighton. It can be accessed from the Rice Creek trail by crossing the creek where 69th Ave. NE/County Rd. H meets Stinson Blvd. NE. That should give you plenty of mileage for an after-work bike ride.

Thanks! I will need to see if I can find the Rice Creek Trail. I have mostly been riding from my workplace on East River Road up to the Coon Rapids Dam, crossing 610, and then back on the other side of the river. Beautiful trails up this way and I look forward to exploring them more. I'll probably go riding in the Fridley area next Tuesday (23rd) and Thursday (25th) if anyone wants to join me.
