I ran my second full marathon this Sunday with my best friend. It was her first so I ran at her pace, which was honestly extremely easy for me. Don't get me wrong, 26.2 miles is still 26.2 miles no matter how slow or fast you run! I am pretty sore!
Anyway, I just wanted to see if there are any other marathoners on here and if so: how do you eat post marathon? I've been trying to listen to my body's hunger for the past few days but I'm not sure if I have quite caught up to what I burned!
I am still trying to lose another 10 lbs but my plan is to eat around maintenance all of this week.

Out of interest what pace were you running at and what pace would you normally run at, oh and times of course. I've got one coming up and got no idea what is good etc.
I'd be interested to hear on the food front. After my half I had a chicken and bacon cheese stack, pure carbs and fat with a pint of cider that kind of helped haha.0 -

We completed it in 5 hrs almost on the dot... which came out to an 11:30 pace. My average long run pace is generally around 8:30-8:45/mile.
We started the run at about a 10 min pace and she sustained it for about 11 miles... the only issue is that she recently suffered a pretty bad knee injury so the pain kicked in and slowed us down a bit.
I wouldn't worry too much about pace for your first marathon, just train your hardest and see what you can do come race day! It's great just to say you completed one. Then you can work on your times.
I'm doing another in November and I'm hoping to qualify for Boston (need a 3:20). So we will see if I can at least come close!0 -
So to do 3hrs 20mins you need to be averaging 7.38. Is that just to run the event without charity support ?
I'm hoping for between 3.30-4hours.
Good work on your friend to keep going with the knee0 -
My mistake... it's 3:35 for me to qualify. 8:20 pace.
And I wasn't aware that you could run it without qualifying?0 -
wow! you're speedy! :-) you can run boston without a qualifying time IF you run for a charity... which means raising some serious fundage! best wishes. it sounds like you're close to a bq with times like that!0
