mtn disk brake recommendations

It's finally time to retire my 10ish yr old Hope Mono Minis.
So... what kind of brakes do people like/recommend? They are going on a Yeti ASR5 trailbike. Weight isn't overly important, single piston is fine, and I'd like them to be as quiet as reasonably possible.
- I've got Maguras on my hardtail that I would happily buy again... but I'm always curious about new/different gear.
- I've run Shimano's XT brakes on a previous bike they worked/felt great, but were pretty noisy.
- Avid brakes are pretty easy to find on sale/clearance, but I'm assuming there's a reason for that.
- I've got an old set of Avid mechanical hanging in my garage that I'll use at least temporarily.

Unless you are hyper-critical about the way your brakes feel, if they are BB7s, I'd throw the Avids on and forget about it. I have a set that I put on an older Cannondale F5 MTB and with good cables they are about as smooth as hydraulics and every bit as powerful. Run the organic pads if you don't want any brake noise.0
