i am looking for friends to partner up with for support along our journies. I came back roughly 131 days ago and am down 31 pounds. I made some friends when I rejoined and slowly they are all disappearing and no longer logging on. So I am looking to add new accountability partners. I am 34. Married with no children. Living in Arkansas. I have PCOS and I am a Type 2 Diabetic. (On metformin) I have diverticulitis and colitis and some days I do have to do a liquid diet so I don't always eat what some people think is an "appropriate" amount of food... Because I can't. So I am looking for a no judgement zone. Also I am doing low carb/moderate fat (I can't do low Carb/high fat due to my stomach issues.) Add me if you'd love an accountability partner. I log daily.

I don't mind more friends, but I'm less active lately, and admittedly I'm not tracking tightly (I keep a count of carbs, but not calories, and I haven't logged since March/April). I'm usually here in some form every day, but I'm working on some heavy-duty personal development stuff and so I don't have as much free time right now.
I'm 39, have PCOS, Insulin Resistance, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure (hormonally driven, only), crazy allergies, and POP. I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic, and I had a brief interlude with metformin, but I do okay managing my IR with my low carb diet, despite not having a gallbladder complicating matters a little...
I like in Oklahoma with my other half, and while I have a daughter, she lives with her father and they prohibit contact, so I have no children in my home. I am a tough love, but full acceptance and no judgment kind of person. If you want feedback, I give it, but I don't pull my punches. If I'm being a moron, I expect my friends to tell me, and vice versa, but I try always to be understand and not rude. I know that all sorts of people are on all kinds of dietary plans and all that, and I just try to focus to a person's adherence to their own plan, not pushing my own ideals onto them.
If all of that mess sounds good, shoot me a request, and please include a note about what group you're from, just in case I sleep between now and then.
Hugs, Knit0 -

You can get your fasting insulin tested. I had major signs of IR and my endocrinologist recommended the test. It is a non-standard test, as most doctors assume if you have insulin problems, you're on your way to being diabetic, so you'll have blood sugar problems, too, which is not the case with me. My fasting glucose is in the 80-90 range, and my A1c is 5 or something... Both are normal range.
Fasting insulin is a simple serum test, no harder to do that fasting blood glucose/sugar. My level was high enough to treat with Metformin at first (due to symptoms more than blood work), but I now treat it through diet only under doctor care.
It is now thought that Insulin Resistance can actually be the CAUSE of PCOS for many, instead of a result of it... It is not the SOLE cause, but it is likely that if you have IR and PCOS that the IR came first... I'll repost the article if I find it...
And no, there are no stupid questions ever! Asking questions is how we learn. If you do not have an endocrinologist who is knowledgeable in PCOS or IR at the least, I would get one. My PCP knew of my symptoms for years and years, but never tested my fasting insulin, and yet, when she saw my results from my Endo's blood work, she about had a panic attack. It was quite humorous. Good luck!0
