He put you through hard times. He made you go hungry. Then he fed you with manna, something neither you nor your parents knew anything about, so you would learn that men and women don't live by bread only; we live by every word that comes from God's mouth. Many people think that life is based on getting why they want. If they can just earn enough $$ to buy high fashioned clothes, drive the hottest car, live in a lavish home eat at the most expensive restaurants, go on the most exotic vacations, get that hot body, they think that's really living the “good life.” There is nothing wrong with those things, but those things don’t satisfy ones deepest longings, because the flesh is never satisfied. Real life comes from total commitment to God, the one who created life, total commitment to God requires sacrifice and discipline, which is why most never find it. ~Selah~
