can I use a clear tape as a screen protector for fitbit charge hr

So I was reading the reviews on amazon, most of the screen protectors are not good enough.. they peel off soon after installation or people won't be able to put them correctly to begin with. I didn't consider putting a protector to my charge hr before but when I saw the screen protectors and people reviews .. apparently the charge hr gets scratches fast..
so I was thinking why not I put a clear tape on the screen as a screen protector ? Can I do that ? did anyone try that before ... any advice?

I've never had good luck with screen protectors on my devices, and I can't see how a screen protector, or a piece of tape, would stay in place on my Charge HR. The same things that scratch the screen would peel it right off. What I do is use toothpaste or acetone to carefully remove scratches that interfere with actually reading the screen.

I've had a Charge HR for several months. No screen protector, no scratches. In fact, until I read this question I had no idea screen protectors were a thing.

I use clear tape. In fact I got on ebay and got 6 rolls of craft tape which is 8mm wide and perfect for the FitBit Charge screen. It's tinted different colors but you can't see it when you use it.zpvqeqk4atyl.jpg

Love the craft tape idea... but is it called something else? Maybe Amazon doesn't carry it but I can't find tape in that size (8mm). I'm not a fan of eBay but might have to try it if I keep striking out. Thanks!
