"Common sense" gun control

"Bad guys don't get guns"? Seriously though, I'm a hunter, and i would imagine my squirrel rifle classifies as one that "common sense" might say is bad (semi-auto and I have a 25 round clip for it, as if anyone could actually buy 25 .22 rounds anymore).
How do you target the people or guns you want controlled and not get law abiding gun owners?
