Protein Powder

Day one of my 3-day all liquid pre-op diet.

The only struggle I'm having today is protein powder. I purchased the Nectar unflavored. I made popsicles with MIO water enhancer using 3 cups of water and 2 scoops of protein. BLAH! I can totally taste the protein! Plus, that made 16 popsicles, so it is <2 grams of protein per pop.

This afternoon I had 2 cups of beef broth with barely 1/2 a scoop of powder and had no problems.

Just wondering about other's experiences.

As I said today, Sunday, was fine. Just watched football and worked on some misc projects. But Monday and Tuesday I will be a work so I'm hoping I have the energy with the low calorie intake.

    Were you doing any kind of restricted diet before? I ask because I went from about 1400 to 800 with a slight adjustment period. It's only two days, so hopefully it won't be too bad for you! Good luck! Home stretch for us both!

    Before the 2 week pre-op I wasn't really following a strict diet. I improved my eating quite a bit and usually had a protein shake for breakfast. I did a 2-week prove-I-could-do-it diet before the dietitian would recommend me and I lost 7 pounds. With the last 11 days I'm down at least another 10.

    I had not tried to do anything with the Nectar protein powder before yesterday. After last nights post I had a bottle of flavored (black cherry) water with again maybe a quarter of scoop of powder and it was fine at least when it was very cold. I'm thinking hot/cold is a key and making sure it is completely dissolved.

    I also have the nectar unflavored and havent been very impressed with it. I seem to always taste it and have a hard time getting it dissolved. I really like premier protein shakes alot.
    I was watching a youtube video and she said to try and mix your unflavored protein with Crystal light - so i may try that tonight. I am really trying hard to get my protein in my food too though
