Prepping for some winter riding and have been looking for good gloves for winter. Anyone have favorites that they've had good experience with?

Had some Novara (REI house brand) insulated gloves (I'd tell you the model but there are no markings left on the gloves to tell you!) that have worked very well for several winters. My old standby was a pair of lined Pearl Izumi gloves but the problem was that the palm side was just leather, non-insulated. Didn't do the trick well enough.
I've been experimenting with non-cycling gloves for winter use, finding stuff at Cal ranch, Walmart etc, mostly insulated work gloves that seen to work well. My favorite though is ragg wool fingerless glove/mitten (fingerless gloves with a mitten cover) that has done me very well for a couple of years. They're just cushy enough to provide a little cushion but not so much to make grabbing the bars difficult plus they keep the hands warm when wet. Unfortunately, it just takes time to find the right pair - what works for me may not for you. FWIW, I've yet to find the perfect pair!0 -
I just use my long finger mountain bike gloves. That being said, I am very much a fair weather rider so don't ride much, if at all, if it's below 500

If it gets really cold, I wear my leather winter motorcycle gloves- keeps the fingers warm and have just enough padding to be comfortable.0

I too have a pair of Novara (REI) gloves that work really well. They've kept my hands nice and warm down to about 15 degrees in the snow. This year I'm just going to steal the bf's 45north cobrafists. He says they're too warm.0

I need to check out REI. I keep hearing about them. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!0

They're not as good as they used to be (back when they were a hippie co-op in a drafty old warehouse in Seattle ) but you can get deals, especially if you leave the theory of "cycling specific" behind!0 -
I've used Pearl Izumi and had great success. The full finger and the lobster style. Love them.

I have issues with circulation in my fingers. (My hands always feel cold.) The handwear I've had the best success with keeping my hands warm are the lobster mitts. Get them a little bit looser so if need be you can wear a pair of liners or handwarmers in them.0
