Hello Runner 5's!
So I am starting week 8 of the Zombies 5K this week, AHHH! I feel like I have improved ALOT, and am still super proud of myself for just being able to run a mile, but I am skeptical if I will be able to run 3 by then end of this week. So far the most I have done without taking a single walking break was 1.5 miles.
I have been following it pretty consistantly, with the exeption for taking about 1.5 weeks off due to leg pain. I thought week 7 would be easy but it really kicked my tookus. I don't know if it was me or the heat. The first time I attempted week 7 I nearly passed out, then the second time I tried the day one I finished it fine and was able to do the full free form runs. Then Day 2, I was able to do the first 5 minute run, but had to "free form" the other 3 five minute runs and was only able to do half. I started to get the woozy feeling I had the first time I did day 1. Then when I did day 3, I feel like I rocked it. I went straight through the first 5 minute run, straight into the drills. Usually i will walk 30 seconds between and walk through the skipping parts but I ran the staight through into the next 5 minute free form run and stopped to a walk at only a minute left on that, only because I was going up a hill and at that point I didn't have the energy if I wanted to do more fee form runs. Then I was able to pretty much do the other two free form runs ok.
However, I just don't think I will be ready for a 5k in just three more missions. I guess my question is, for those who have graduated and completed the 5K portion. How did it go? Did you think you were going to be ready for it? Any advice?
Thanks for the help!

Most important thing to know:
There will come a point when you think you are done and the missions is over (you'll know where). It's not. Keep running until you hear the "mission completed" signal at the end.
Other than that, it's just a long free form run. Focus, pace yourself, and listen to the directions, and you'll do great. Of course you're be ready. We have complete faith in you.

I wish I read this earlier. I ran the final one today and stopped after I knew I ran at least 5k. I will have to run it again on Sunday morning. Oh well. I can bribe myself with a doughnut.0

Pacing is definitely huge. Also, I've found that the time of day, hydration level, and what I eat before I run make a huge difference.
The regular zombies run episodes are just long free form runs, so you can continue improving once you make it to the main app as well! If you don't make it the whole way, that's ok, just do your best.0 -

I completed the C25k program yesterday. I thought I was done, but remembered what you said & kept going until I heard the "Mission Completed". Thanks for the tip. It's funny day 2 was much easier than the last day. I even kept running after the program ended. Oh well, the point is I did it. I never though I could run & now I say I'm a runner, but not just any runner. I'm runner 5.0
