I have a medical condition called neurofibromatosis type 1. It causes tumors to grow throughout my body. It also creates a lot of pain and migraines. I am worn out all the time and just honestly depressed with everything. (I also have two sons who are special needs). How do you pull yourself out of depression and get going?

Me? I slide out of bed(literally sometimes) and go run or do yoga. I make time to do something that I enjoy doing everyday.
When I hurt, I tell myself that i can either hurt or hurt and be healthy. i generally choose the latter.
I take medication. I have people that i can talk about things with

Is there a support group either for people with chronic conditions or for parents of special needs children? Knowing that you are not alone can take a huge weight off your shoulders, or at least it did for me with another issue I had in my life.

Is there a support group (even if it's only online) for you and your children's conditions? I found that really helpful when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as no one else can understand what we're going through. Other than that I find spending time doing things I enjoy and pampering myself helps, for example a nice bubbly bath always relaxes me. Also, for things I would love to do but can't, finding something else to take it place, I can't go walking as it's too painful but I have an exercise bike which I can use occasionally and I ride that while watching a wildlife or travel programme on the tv. Of course it depends how much time I've got, life has a habit of getting in the way but even a few minutes at the end of the day can help lift my mood a bit.
