I'm traveling across the country for five days next week. I always start my trip with healthy intentions then end up eating lots of junk food then saying eff it and eating some more. I'm staying at a hotel that has carb-heavy free breakfast buffet and a fridge in the room.

Bringing: protein bars

Buying: string cheese, veggies, fruit

Please share your healthy ideas!

What I do is if the hotel has scrambled eggs I will eat that and half a piece of toast, if I can eat that I am ok. If not if just yucky cereal and pastries I will have tea and pay for breakfast somewhere to get eggs. My hubby sometimes will eat the junk food and just drink coffee while I have breakfast while we are traveling.

Just be careful of trying to be too good that you feel deprived, you will end up stuffing yourself with tons of the real bad junk. I find if I give myself a little of what I like, a glass of wine, few bites of my hubbies dessert I don't feel deprived.

On Thanksgiving I just take small portions of everything that looks good. That way I have all my favorites but not stuffing myself. This year we are taking my mom out to fancy place and so my portions will not be huge, the wine and bread will be calling to me I am sure!
