New Activity Auto Tracking

I like the concept of auto tracking but in practice it works oddly. My walk at lunch always picks up as elliptical but it I if ignore elliptical I might get a few token minutes for my walk. I was hoping if I turned off elliptical that it would pick the next logical choice, guess not.
I think my only choice is to turn elliptical back on and reclassify it when it comes up...
Anyone else experience something similar?

That's interesting. And frustrating. You might want to contact Fitbit and give them some feedback. It sounds like you must have an atypical walking gait. I would hope that Fitbit would want to find a way to improve their detection algorithm.0

Not an odd gait, but I do walk noticeably faster than the average. 4mph is my warm up and cool down pace anything slower is tortuous... Typically go 4.5mph or faster when not walking with others. Can go up to 5mph without breaking in to a jog.0

Interesting, I turned elliptical back on last night, it looks like walk kicks in during my warm up and it kicks over to elliptical once I get up to speed. No idea if it is my speed or my heart rate that kicks it into the misclassification.0

What is your arm movement like when you are walking?0

I swing my arm in rhythm with my legs. Same motion when I go slow...0

How high do you swing your arms? Chest high?0

Do they move further horizontally or vertically? Where I'm going with this is: Is your arm movement similar to what would happen on an elliptical?0
-
No it is not a exaggerated arm swing, nor is it horizontally wider than when I walk a non exercise pace. The arms just swing in the same speed as my legs.0

Hmm.... if your elbows are not bent, then that exhausts the only idea I had.0

Yeah weird, I posted something on the Fitbit help forum, we'll see. It is a new feature so may have some kinks to work out.0

That's my guess.0
