Business Trip = Crossfit Road Trip

So I have to go to Columbus, OH the first week of January for business, and of course the first thing I did was look for CrossFit boxes nearby that take drop-ins. I love my local box, but I'm super excited to have found CrossFit Grandview (formerly known as Rogue Gahanna and the home of the original Rogue Fitness Gym) nearby and they are more than happy to have me come by and workout with them for the 3 days I'll be there. I don't know that I'll have time to visit the Rogue facility (only their Rogue CrossFit Teams and employees can work out at their new gym - testing all the Rogue equipment) but working out in their old facility with these guys will make sitting in meetings for 3 days straight totally worth it. I'm pumped!!! Heck, maybe there are even some members of this box out there ☺

Just got back Friday and it was blast. The other people were very welcoming. The coach was a little stand-offish, but I think that was partly his overall style. I worked out Wed to Fri of last week, and feel I represented my Box well. They used WODify to record all scores, so there was no way to compare where I ended up with others in my classes (of 15-25). Every day but one I think I finished Rx in the top 5 or so. The last day I was the only one (that I saw) to Rx+ it. In our box it's normal to go heavier if you think you can and stay competitive in the WOD. I'm not sure the protocol at this box but in the triplet (Sit-ups, SDHP, Ring Dips) we did Friday, I bumped the SDHP (21-15-9) from 95 to 135 since I normally use 135 for this lift in WODs. I finished below middle of the pack but that was expected since I wanted to go heavy and not finish as fast as Rx would have been. In my book, Rx+ beats all Rx scores, so in my mind I took top spot Friday. Not sure how the coach viewed it since he didn't say anything to me after the fact. A nice job would have been nice since I busted my *kitten* with the heavy weight and did my ring Dips strict, but oh well. Looking forward to going back to my Box tomorrow for sure.
