Food does sync from MFP to Fitbit, but not individual items. You'll see "Breakfast Summary", "Lunch Summary", "Dinner Summary", etc. Log non-step based exercises in Fitbit and you'll get your adjustment on MFP (and better accuracy). Weight will sync both ways, but water does not.

I'd recommend reading the FAQ in the stickies. It's long, but comprehensive.
    • Food goes from MFP to Fitbit (as a meal summary, as malibu927 said), but if you log food in Fitbit, I don't think it transfers to MFP. So, always log food in MFP. Besides, last time I tried logging food in Fitbit, I found it frustrating.
    • Weight goes both ways. You can log it in either place. I prefer Fitbit's app interface, though.
    • Water goes both ways, I think, but I'm not sure because I don't bother with logging water.
    • Exercise logged in MFP goes over to Fitbit and overwrites Fitbit's (probably better) estimate for that time. Even exercise that your Fitbit can't track or can't track well (for example: swimming, weight lifting, yoga) is probably better logged in Fitbit as it uses a somewhat better approach to estimating calories burned than MFP does. So, I don't log any exercise in MFP.
    • Fitbit does not transfer individual exercise details to MFP, just total calories burned. MFP then does math with that number to get your Fitbit Calorie adjustment. You can see that math by clicking the little 'i' on the exercise page of the MFP website or by touching the adjustment in the diary in the app, then touching it again. If you want MFP to show your exercise in your feed, you can do it manually.
