Best cheese alternatives?

Hi all, I have just turned vegan after being vegetarian for 35 years - can anyone recommend some decent cheese alternatives please? We have tried violife and Tesco own brand, but we found these a bit tangy and rubbery for our tastes. We live in Cornwall so we are limited to the major retail chains for the most part. Thank you

Hi from a former veggie turned vegan four years ago. Maybe check out Veganoo.net, they've got a melt/taste test article on UK vegan cheeses and loads more on UK vegan stuff. I've tried Redwood's (bought at Holland and Barrett, didn't like much) and Cheezly (Morrisons, liked a bit better) but much prefer Tesco's smoked soya. I think it's made for them by Sheese (Bute Island Foods).0

This is a year ago, so wondered if you had discovered anything you like yet? Red pepper one from Tesco is now my fave.0

I love Applewood, but then I'm a Violife fan too.0
