Swollen ankles and/ or knees

Hi all! I just started the strong lift 5x5 work outs about two weeks ago and have noticed swollen ankles and knees. I'm not sure if this is normal for repair or not. I have started my journey in August 2015 and have been focusing on cardio and cutting calories. Since then lost 50 pounds. Noticed some loose skin, so decided to started strength training. Not sure if my swelling is normal or not? Should I take a break from lifting all together or should I lower the weights?

does it hurt?
i can't remember swelling per se, except when i was brand new and irritated the bursa in my kneecaps by using way too much quad in my squats. that did give me a kind of puffy thing as the bursa lie between the bone and the skin. you could poke your finger about 1/8 inch into my kneecaps before you found bone, and they were tender as hell. it went away with a) rest and b) me doing a ton of research and completely changing my squat.
but with knees i think there are many different things that can cause a swelling so ymmv.0
