I read a review about the book recently, as I was looking for HM training plan inspirations.
Running six times per week is too much for me, so I didn't follow up on it, but here is the link in case it's interesting for you:

I looked at the marathon training program, but it was too much mileage for me now, as I like more cross-training. I have the book and am reading it, though, as I like understanding different plans.

The 6 days a week are really daunting to me.... between kids, home and work fitting in 4 days is difficult sometimes.

I know i CAN make 6 days work if i really want to, but im not sure thats the best thing for me right now.

I followed the hansons training plan (the "beginner" one - it's not actually for beginners haha) and had a lot of success! Managed to cut 27 minutes off of my PR! It is a lot of mileage though so make sure you are up for it beforehand; there's no point in overtraining and getting injured before your goal race. I'm planning to use the training plan again later this year for a half I'm doing in november!

Wanted to add- another fairly unique thing about Hanson's method is that the long runs are done faster than "easy run" pace, whereas most of the other plans I've seen call for long runs at or slower than "easy run" pace. Just something else to be aware/consider!

I read the book a few years ago and it's a very demanding training plan. I chose a variant of McMillan's training plan (check out his book "You, Only Faster") because it fit my mindset and, more importantly, the mileage wasn't so high.
Best suggestion - try it. If you can work up to the mileage and intensity of that plan, give it a shot and see how it works for you.

That's a great improvement. What do you think specifically about the program made it work so well vs your old plan?
