Hello,
I'm new to this group. I started out with C25K, and eventually was able to graduate from it after escaping the middle eastern summer heat. Pretty much right afterwards colleagues talked me into participating in a 10k for a charity. Could not resist, and thus on the 7th I'll run my first 10k race, which involves a cumulative steepish 160m up, and ditto downhill part. So far I've done the up and down part 3 times (it's a circle that starts in front of my flat, about 8.6-9.4km) and have run 10km once this month so far (ironically also in the middle east, but it was just pleasantly warm). I was originally aiming at 85 minutes, but finished my last trial run on that course with a pace of 7.59min/km and am sure I can keep this up until the finish. I'm a slow runner, in case you're wondering. Not that I mind.
Afterwards, in the long run I'd like to focus on somewhat longer distances. There's a 10mile race nearby at the end of February, though I'm not sure I'll be fit enough for that yet. It's flat though, thus that's an advantage.

Thanks a lot
I'm still tempted to sign up for the 10 mile race two weeks after the 10k. It's probably a stupid idea with regards to resting and because I never ran 10 miles before. but I'd like to find out where I stand. And it doesn't have a cutoff time anyway.0 -
If you do it, just make sure you start out much slower than your 'normal' running pace, so you don't get tired halfway through.0

Certainly! It will at this moment be difficult as I finally seem to have found the right button to run a bit faster (I'm such a slow runner!) but I'll certainly do that. I'm signed up now, btw.0
