Hello to all: first I would like to tell you a little about me! I am a stay at home mom. I am 32 years old and have 4 children, ages 11, 8, 5, and 3!! Boy do they keep me busy!
Over the years starting with my first pregnancy Iwas around 200lbs. I always have carried my weight extremely well. At 195, I always got told I look 140. I wished!!! After my last baby I was around 225. I drank sodas (mainly Mt. Dew) for many years and around the clock!!! Plus I became a some what heavy alcoholic. I went through a divorce and things went down hill ttremendously. Over the past 6 months I've done a huge turn around as for alcohol. I begin to have a lot of stomach issues in which I went to a GI today and will be having the scope run down my throat and stomach. Due to the stomach problems I started to have I saw my regular Dr a little over a year ago and sent for ultrasound checking gallbladder. Everything checked out fine. I weighed around 263... I have never been so big nor felt so miserable in all my life. I was ashamed , no energy and just tired all the time. Long story short, bringing this story up to date.. I saw my Dr again 2 months ago. She once again jumped on me about sodas and gave some advice on how to eat. Left there and thought yeah right... I hate water, I'm not just going to eat fruits and veggies!!!! Me being stubborn!!! I happened to be online one day (FB)and this handsome muscular fella popped through news feed , where some had shared a modeling picture. Me and my gfs mouths dropped and actually found him on FB. He is a active duty officer , body builder and a new model figure. That was my inspiration, my strength. Did I want to feel miserable and look 9 months pregnant after eating the rest of my life? Not only that but for me and my children! So my journey began! Slowly, but still failing! Wouldn't stop the soda. I also finally purchased a scale and gradually I got better.(for 2 months I had stopped eating all together BC stomach issues and felt sick) pushing myself I started eating a banana for breakfast, salad (spinach or romaine) with a little grilled chicken for lunch, and usually dinner meat was grilled or baked. Still didn't give sodas up. Over a month I noticed I was dropping weight. Just a little... When I started to see the numbers dropping the more inspired I become and started questioning friends who just become vegan. So my last grocery shopping trip I made my mind up, if I don't buy soda, I won't have them there in front of me to want. It was clearly another addiction. Prior to today I went 2 days drinking water (1 day was around 15 cups of water) and my healthy foods and 4lbs fell off!! Boy did that really excite me! So I've gone from 263 down to 235 in just a matter of a few months. Most of it being recent. I have learned, you are what you eat!!!! Stay away from preservatives, anything canned or in a box. Eat leafy greens and drink water and watch the lbs fall off!!! i want to be that persons inspiration! If I can do it, you can do it!!!!

Congratulations on doing something so wonderful for your health, and your life.
and congratulations on not buying any sodas . Whilst its ok to have them occasionally (when it fits your macros), they really are just empty calories. So easy to consume so many calories - they should come with a health warning on the label !0 -
Yes indeed. I had a few sips yesterday with a ton of ice in the cup. My taste has already changed and its way syrupy! I'm very proud of myself ! I didn't think I would ever be able to let them go . thank you as well for the support0

Perdy, I am very happy to hear that you made some changes and were immediately rewarded with results. I'm not a huge fan of this, but if you wanted to glorify your water a bit there is always crystal light, dasani drops, neo or other kinds of chemicals to make it feel better. I try to stay away from aspertame if I can, but if it helps you drink water it could possibly be something to try.
Do you have any plans to start throwing in some exercise now that you have your eating straightened out a bit?0 -
What you are doing is great. Your children will benefit from what you are doing. I have drank Diet Mt. Dew daily all day long. It was diet so it was ok. Well my daughter who is an adult kept saying diet soda's are not good for you. In fact a person I know had a lot of health issues and found out she was allergic to the artificial sweetener. She stopped all food and drinks which had this and she dropped a lot of weight.
I kept thinking it's one vice I don't drink or smoke. I don't like water either. Well I have stopped drinking them. I will occasionally drink one when I'm out which isn't often. I'm using the powder in water but I'm going to try to stop that also.
Keep up the good work you are an inspiration0 -

Thank you so much ! Yes it was very hard to switch to water and I really have cut back on the flavor packets as well. I'm noticing a lot of heart burn with them. im still occasionally taking a sip of soda just to keep withdrawals down. So im mostly all water now PS: your daughter is absolutely right! Diet drinks is just as bad as regular drinks. Smart girl, and that's great you are transitioning as well0
