I noticed that there haven't been any posts since December of 2015! How are all of my T1D friends doing?
Personally, my diet, exercise and diabetes control fell apart over the holidays and took a few weeks to get back on track. I am back on track and ready to have some results! I made a few goals for myself for February and am ready to start knocking them out. I also have an endo appointment at the end of March and am trying so hard to beat my best A1C.

I'm ready to get back on track. I have been feeling sorry for myself which leads to my making excuses and eating junk food. My new goal is to lose 2 pounds by valentine's day. Hopefully can turn that into a 2 pound loss per month moving forward. I'm trying to eat more veggies and switched up breakfast to a green smoothie instead of yogurt. I eat pretty well anyway, but I always end up eating extra because people always tell me too. For example I can't go to bed without my husband asking what I ate for a bedtime snack. I don't need a bedtime snack but usually eat one because I don't want to explain to him why I don't need one. I also have been eating an excessive amount of chocolate. If I cut the snack and the chocolate I should save 300-400 calories per day which I expect will eventually result in a loss. Small changes are my plan. I also want to walk a few days per week. My Dr. wants me doing it daily but I find my joints have difficulty with more than a few days. Hopefully over time I can build up to more walking.0

So far, things are going pretty good. I had my endo appointment last week, and my A1C is the lowest it's ever been (5.2!!! I've been hovering in the 5.6-5.9 range since my first post-diagnosis A1C two years ago). I got a Fitbit for Christmas, and it has motivated me to reach at least 13K steps a day... though I'm now having issues with a ton of lows because of it. My endo thinks that I could be honeymooning (haha... she needs to see my Waffle House spikes and tell me where my functional beta cells were then), so my goal right now is to preserve whatever beta cells that I might still have for as long as possible (which pretty much means trying to keep my BG as close to nondiabetic ranges as often as possible).0

I am just getting back on track. My sugars were really high over the holidays and through January, mostly because I stopped tracking, but also because I needed some changes to my basal rates. I was getting that terrible tingling feeling in my lower legs and feet a lot. I'm doing better now. And I recognize how much better I feel. So, that is helping me to stay more motivated this time.
How are each of you doing now?
Okulyd did you meet your Valentine's day goal?0 -
I didn't even come close to my Valentine's goal. I gained 2 pounds. Anyway, trying to turn the trend around in March. Still having green smoothies but I need to work on more veggies during the day and less chips, bread, etc...Small steps right?0

I've gained almost 6 lbs. in the past week. Unfortunately, I won't have time to exercise much (if at all) until May, so I need to get some self discipline and start eating better.0
