Prayer: Requests, Praises and Concerns

Hi Friends,

We all have things to pray about. Prayer is a conversation with God.

How should we pray?

There is no one way. The simple word, "Help" spoken to God, is enough for God to know. Feel free to talk to God anyway you need to. In fact, sometimes, we're angry at God. God is great enough to deal with your anger and still love you.

I submit that there is an easy format, which follows the Lord's Prayer (the prayer Jesus taught his disciples to pray). It uses the acronym A.C.T.S.

A -- Adoration (This is a time to acknowledge who God is and give God the glory for all God's sovereign greatness. Think of the joy a winning team feels when people adore them. God feels good, too, when give back adoration or worship.)

C -- Confession (This is a time to clean house, spiritually. Sometimes there are things which get in the way of our communication with God. Like a child holding her hands up to her face and saying "You can't see me" we need to make sure we aren't blocking our view of God by leaving obstacles in our way. God does not force us. We have a choice of whether we are open to God or not. If we leave up blocks, then we prevent ourselves from hearing what God has to say. Confession is a time to get rid of those blocks. James tells us 'if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just and will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.")

T -- Thanksgiving (This is a time to give thanks to God for all the wonderful blessings we receive. Just as you and I appreciate it when someone thanks us, God enjoys our being thankful. Let's be grateful for everything we do have.)

S -- Supplication (This is where we ask God for what we want. We can be as specific or as general as we need. God knows all our needs, but we need to identify them to. The old adage "Be careful what you ask for" is true. When we pray, we must be very careful that what we ask of God is what we truly want. Sometimes we receive what we ask for, but that is not what we need or want. If you have a confidential issue that you would like to have prayer for, please PM us. We'll pray for you among ourselves, privately.)

If you are not a Christian, and that is fine with us, please check things out for yourself and don't hesitate to ask any questions. There are no stupid questions. Questions are excellent ways to discover new insights. We may not have all the answers, but we'll work together to find out what we can.

Christians and non-Christians, affiliated and unaffiliated alike are welcome.

Hi everyone! Please join me in prayer over my 9 month old. We found out today she has another ear infection. This is her 4th one back to back. She's been screaming off & on today. We just got back from the doc. I thought it was her cutting a top, front tooth. She absolutely hates taking meds so that will be a fight for the next 10 days. Please pray for quick healing & total healing that it doesnreturn. Thank you.

    Kimberly,

Hoping your little one's ear infection is healed and she is recovering well. Blessings on your sleep.

Everyone who has been praying for my back, I thank you. After reinjuring it last week, and coming to a screeching halt for what I can do--no exercising, but light walking under heavy medications--and mostly lying down to allow it to heal--it is finally making progress. I can actually get up sometimes without excruciating pain.

My walking is not so bad, either. So thank you for your prayers and praise God for the healing that has begun.

    ChapLynne

P.S. The side effect of being laid up, is that I have had access to my computer and this site a lot more. :) For that I am also grateful.
