Hey there- Happy February everyone!! Actually, Happy Groundhog Day too (early spring- really?) I'm in PA, and there are so many groundhogs in the area making their predictions (apparently Punxatawney Phil isn't the only one in our state!).
Time for your goals and all that good stuff!
Today is my 1 year MFP anniversary. Kind of cool to hit that milestone.
This month is definitely going to be a bit of a challenge... surgery has now been confirmed for the 12th, so I've got 10 days to get in top-notch shape. Kidding. I've got ten days, half of which will be filled w/finally getting off a few meds which I think have been making me a puffy "hormental" wreck. My goals this month are pretty simple, I'll keep logging as best I can (thinking I may lose my streak though), and trying to make some good food choices, and hopefully get back to moving around- they want me walking post surgery- as best I can! I'm going to concentrate on being kind to myself and not worrying about what I'm gaining. I still feel in decent shape since I've been lifting, and trying to do some cross training, but I know I've gained. My focus is going to be on healing though first and foremost.

I'm heading out to the gym once I finish my coffee. Food wise I'm not doing so hot... you know when nothing sounds good and you just graze without a plan and realize you went overboard? Oh well. But still trying to stay active and I'll get back at it. It's just where I'm at now and recognizing that is huge for me, so maybe all is not lost!0 -

I've been crazy busy, but I noticed you hadn't checked in recently. If you're continuing to exercise than you're doing something right. Keep it up. Less than a week to go to surgery, and things will only go up from there...not your weight though.0 -
@Laughter_Girl , I'm still here! My work has been insane... I'm taking off two weeks for surgery, and will then be out for another 2-4 weeks working from home so in addition to the normal craziness they're trying to cram my schedule full before I leave. All that work really cuts into my personal MFP posting time! Lol!! I've mostly been strength training, working on upper body because of my foot (I'm a hot mess!). I do feel like I've gotten stronger though and made some decent Improvements. I guess that's the bonus of the extra food while lifting weights! I'll just call this my off season:0

@bbinoa - Done up to day 5 on C25k - with a running club, hopefully slow and measured will see me past the point where I normally get an injury (Achilles, Soleus, Gastrocnemius - they queue up!!). It's usually a couple of months in, when I'm comfortable and happy and beginning to push beyond 3 miles!! BUT I'm really happy so far.
You have my empathy on the craziness at work, I don't miss it a bit - my craziness is around the demands made on me to provide childcare for my grandboys.0 -

So, I've been trying to update this group via the phone, and that has only half been working out for me. Ha, ha, ha. I figured I'd come back to the computer and do it the old-fashion way. Well, Friday I had to see a specialist because I've been hoarse for more than 3 weeks, and apparently I've done some real damage to my vocal cords. Don't even bother asking how because I have no clue. Anyway, I am now on meds and may have to have vocal therapy. I didn't know there was such a thing, and I guess that's a good thing. That just means that I've never had to have it and neither has anyone I knew. The worse part for me is I am currently on total vocal rest for 3 days (two to go). If you knew me IRL, you would know how much of a challenge this is for me. I'm trying to stay in as much as possible to avoid people. I'm a total social butterfly and never meet a stranger. Thankfully, it's the weekend, and the only person probably suffering more is my husband. He's use to me babbling all day long. Ha, ha, ha, ha. I have a follow-up appointment tomorrow morning to see if the drugs are working to repair the damage. In the meantime, these drugs are not causing me to sleep very well. I've been awake since before 4am. Poor me. I'm about to exercise in a minute.
@bbinoa Good for you for continuing the strength training! You could be making up a tons of excuses, and considering your current circumstances, no one would judge you, BUT you're not. You're doing what you can, how you can, and that's all that matters. I completely understand about work. Employers definitely want to get their monies worth out of us. Hang in there. As far as the fries, I had some Red Robin on the 1st, and they weren't good. I still need to make up for that, but funny thing is, I haven't craved fries all week since than. Weird for me. Also, I haven't been doing much running lately. I've been just doing a ton of indoor activities. I'll be getting back out there soon because I have my first 5K of the year mid-March. I'll keep you informed.
@k80flec You're doing great so far this month, and good for you for getting out on that pavement! I always say I'm going to join a running group, but I don't think I have the nerves for it just yet. Also, you're definitely working if you're watching those grandsons. I work with child care providers (currently licensed & registered homes), and although it can be a very rewarding job, it is also a very demanding job.

Hi, Team Green! I am out of overtime jail!!! I have missed you, but life has been crazy the last two weeks. My eating has been terrible and my exercise has been worse. jumping in from tomorrow (green on Shrove Tuesday? Not in my adult life, it's time to eat up my abstinence item and get it out of my house.) my goal will be 18/20 green days and 10/20 exercise days.0

@Laughter_Girl: my oldest brother AND my friend Jessica both had to have vocal therapy. The bother sounded like Darth Vader. Jessica is the praise team leader at my church. She was miserable the week she couldn't talk. You have all of my sympathy.0

@MelissaPhippsFeagins Thanks for the encouraging words. I was about to get depressed, but thankfully, I'm getting my voice back. One of the first things the therapist and doctor asked me was do I sing. I wish I could. Maybe vocal therapy will enable me to do so. Ha, ha, ha. Welcome back by the way!! I'm glad you've been freed from overtime.
@bbinoa Thanks for understanding. I'm sounding a little better each day, which I consider a blessing. My husband was regretting me getting my voice back today when I was fussing at him. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.0 -

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I'm lurking and still around. Green most days and continuing to work with my coach to improve my endurance in running. Work has been crazy and my son's swim season is in high gear. I can't keep track of one more thing but I'll be back when I can!
I'm coming up on my one year myfitnesspal anniversary! Down 40 pounds, in significantly better shape and feeling healthy. Maintenance hasn't been bad and I continue logging, though I'm a little more laid back about it. I monitor my weight daily and am ok as long as I stay within my five pound range. When I hit the higher side I watch what I eat a little more closely and up the exercise duration or intensity.

I'm alive!
Just checking in. Surgery was Friday and went really well. My Dr. was able to do the whole thing laproscopically, so I'm happy about that. Came home Saturday, and now I'm just recovering. Sore, swollen and tired but getting better daily. I can walk all I want but it's been -15 with windchills so I'm limited to shuffling around the house. Not too hungry so I'm just eating cereal and soup. My sister and I have renamed this my surgery staycation... I'm trying to think off all the prep and stuff as a "detox" I would've paid alot for at a fancy spa she sent me a big gift basket of my favorite beauty products and lotions. Maybe if all that works it'll look like I had some other "work" done too, LOL! !!!

@jenthibert, great to hear from you too. Maintenance sounds like it agrees with you. Any marathons this year?
