15 Pounds...

So, I am overweight. I realized that today when I repeatedly adjusted my shirt and sweater so that my gut wouldn't show. I had inklings yesterday when I felt uber uncomfortable in my "skinny" jeans; I was kind of muffin-toping out of them.
A few years ago, I hired a very expensive personal trainer and worked out five to six days a week. I also paid for an expensive meal service and I lost about 15 pounds and got into incredible shape. However, I made a major change in my life and wasn't able to exercise that much anymore. Now, I can, but don't have the trainer or the meal plan. I am doing it on my own and failing.
I am 30 years old and don't feel the way that I think that I should. My family is obese/overweight and I am the least overweight, so they can't understand my problem. My friends are so kind and don't think that I should lose any weight, but they don't know how unhappy I am when I see myself naked.
I think that 15 pounds shouldn't be this hard, but I am always putting it off until tomorrow to begin the journey. I want to feel better about myself.

@NeoFresh Firstly well done you for starting on your journey. The hardest part is starting and you've done it so kudos to you for that.
Secondly forget the word should. Should is the killer of all things motivational. Forget what you think you "Should" feel like. Notice how you feel now and if you don't like that then make a plan to change it. Read the articles on here. There are awesome and give you heaps of info. Have you got a local Gym? Head on down there and ask the trainer to write you a simple plan to get started. When i started 5 weeks ago I bought myself a set of under the desk pedals from ebay for $40 and rode. I used resistance bands for strength. I religiously log all my food intake and make sure that most days I have a calorie deficit.
You don't want to lose too fast because it is not sustainable. Slow and steady loss will help build good sustainable habits.
If you need a buddy, i'm more than happy for you to add me. We can do this. You can do this

Do you still have the information from the personal trainer/ meal plan? I'd start there with the types of exercise you were doing before and the number of calories the meal plan was.

I get comments about not needing to lose weight as well. The best approach I've found is "I'm not trying to lose weight I'm trying to get my fat % into a healthy range" most people will drop it then.

Thanks Khatmott and Kettiecat. I really appreciate the support. I was using a personal trainer with 24 Hour Fitness. It was a while ago, so I don't really have the plan anymore, but it was a mixture of cardio and weight lifting for nearly every session. I relied heavily on My Fit Foods during this time, but they are expensive.
I have an average body, but know that my family tends to gain weight in the midsection and can feel it slowly creeping up to a point where I am not comfortable in my clothes or looking in the mirror, let alone dating. Your point about body fat percentage is correct. I am hovering around 28% right now, which I think is too high.

Neo, the whole theory behind this site is tracking calories. Its the easiest part of the whole journey of losing weight. Set up your profile, set up a goal and record what you eat. That step alone will put you in the right direction and then you can figure out the rest as you go.

Using this app has made my journey easier. Last time I went on a weight loss journey I wrote my food down on paper and looked up the info In a book. This is a godsend. Also this journal keeps me motivated. I went to a nutricianist and she has me on 1200 calorie food plan. The plan she put me on matches the % that is on MFP program. I see her once a month to weigh in and go over food and exercise from month before. She actually is working with Diabetics. She is actually a nutricianist and a personal trainer. It's not expensive. I did need a referral from my doctor. You may want to check into your area to see if you have a program like this.

Last time I went to her I made it to my goal weight and maintained until my husband became ill with cancer and my life fell apart. You can do this!!!!
