Sliding Hernia

Hey all! Last week I had a super painful stomach attack one day about an hour after eating, I was literally doubled over and couldn't catch my breath. After a CT scan and Upper GI barium xray - my surgeon and the team found a sliding hernia. At my sleeve surgeon, I had a paraesophageal repair done - I am ten months post op. I am waiting for my surgeon to make a determination on the course of action, but wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these? My food intake has been spotty since this episode - sometimes causing pain sometimes not. Liquids seem to be okay, but I am super gurgley since last week. I did two days of nothing but liquids after the episode and and two days of soft foods. Any insights would be greatly appreciated

Yes those can hurt! I developed a sliding type of hernia after my sleeve and vomiting so much bile. My surgeon fixed it when he did the conversion to RNY. I believe it's possible to have these repaired via endoscopy (forgive if I'm wrong on this, but it seems I've seen this available in my research), without actual laparoscopic incisions. I'm sure the size of the hernia will dictate the ability to do it that way too! I would feel that your symptoms were bad enough to warrant repair, but that's between your surgeon and you! I hope they find an answer that keeps you from having these painful episodes! Best of luck hun!0
