Net calories

I'm trying to get my head round the numbers, can someone explain it to me please.
Fitbit says I burn an average 1800 calories a day. MFP says I eat an average of 1800 calories a day. I've been maintaining within a couple of pound range for the last few weeks so this makes sense.
But MFP tells me my net average daily calories is about 1400. What does this number mean? Surely if I was in such a deficit I'd be losing weight?

Where are you getting those numbers? I ask because you seem to have contradicted yourself. First, you said "MFP says I eat an average of 1800 calories a day." Then, you say "But MFP tells me my net average daily calories is about 1400."
The place I go to look at my calories in vs. calories out is on Fitbit's profile page. The graph there gives the daily average numbers for the past 30 days.0 -
On the MFP mobile app if you go to Nutrtion - Calories - Weekly you can see average daily values for total and net calories.
Total average daily calories = how many calories eaten in a week divided by 7.
I thought net average daily calories = how many calories eaten in a week minus exercise calories (fitbit adjustment) divided by 7. But now I'm not so sure.
My average daily total calories eaten vs average daily calories burnt are fairly close. I just wondered what the net calories meant and hoped someone else would know and explain it to me.0 -
Your net calories are the difference between whats eaten and burned/ total.0

Oh, I never look at much in the mobile app, so I haven't ever seen that number. Like I said, I rely on the graph on my Fitbit profile page if I want to analyze calories in vs. calories out.
Now that I've looked at it, I find that if I subtract "Net Average" from "Goal" on that page and then multiply by 7, then I get the number given as "Net Calories Under Weekly Goal". Those numbers appear to be what you ate minus your Fitbit adjustment and/or logged exercise, so it should be close to your MFP "goal" if you're on maintenance.0
