The following is a message I received. This is very important and needs to be addressed as a group.

Hi, Sean and Lisa!
Today I checked with the kinesiologist who teaches my senior Fitness class about how to properly do a crunch without killing myself! She said she was glad I asked, as it is easy to injure one's back if these are done improperly. She was a bit concerned about the intensity and number of challenge exercises especially for us older folks and those who are beginners or extremely overweight. Is there any way you guys can give alternate challenge exercises for us so that we don't injure ourselves? she was concerned about the fact that is not done properly it could do more harm than good. I really appreciated the calf raises yesterday, which I was able to do, but the sciatica is feeling like it's on it's way back today!

Please use substitute exercises if you are unable to perform the challenges I post. Also I have tried to make the point system in such a way that everyone can contribute in one way or another. We have such a varied fitness and ability range in this group that 100 of a certain exercise could be easy for one and impossible for another. Most importantly, we cannot have anyone get injured for 500 fake dollars!!!!! The idea is for us to get moving a little more than maybe we were and to have some fun doing it. As with any exercise program always consult with your physician first.

I second this! As much as I would love to be able to do all the challenges at the level required, injuries and age make some of them a bit difficult.

Team Piers and Team Omarosa, we have set up this challenge to accommodate every person regardless of age or injury. If you can eat then you have a contribution to your team!! I have end stage (hips) osteoarthritis and I'm in a great deal of pain everyday. I can barely walk and can't stand in one spot for more than a minute. I am not able to do most of the challenges we post, when I said I will have amazing abs I wasn't kidding as that is about the only challenge I can complete without causing more pain. I do my very best to participate as I know that I will reap the benefits even if small, and help my team. Do what you are capable of and do not risk injury!!

I appreciate you posting this as I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees and am also in pain, mostly when I move (ha ha!) and am unable to stand for more than a minute or so without breaking out in a sweat, shakes, and horrible pain. I was amazed at how I was able to do an hour of the machines at the gym (I just joined in January) and 45 minutes on recumbent and stationary bikes. What I noticed was that I was seated for all those exercises! I am noticing muscles where they haven't been in ages and now that I'm logging my food again, I am finally dropping pounds. I will do the challenges that I am able to do, and won't beat myself up if I am unable to do others. I feel that I am really progressing with what I can do at the gym, logging my food and keeping on track with my calories and water, and just being motivated by this group! Thank you again, Sean and Lisa, for putting this challenge together!

I definitely think that people should do alternatives if they do not feel they can do the one listed. Just report what and how much you did do of your alternative. I dont anyone is going to have an issue with it. Everyone needs to know too that doing 100 reps does not mean they have to be done all at once. Do them in reps of 10 or even 5 throughout the day. This is a fun challenge meant to inspire.....Competition is good for the soul....Rock on

I agree, I think splitting up the challenge to two or more sessions during the day could help some people that may not be able to do them all at once.

100% agree with this! Some of them I have to modify and ALL of them I split them up through to day, :)

I agree to split up if can. Also I feel some might get rapped up in the form of the exercises. We all see the 6 pack ab guy doing crunches. Crunches does not have to go from floor to 90' or 45'. If because of illness, injury, or weight, your abs are engaged but your shoulder blades are only 1 inch off floor. For you that's a crunch!!! If I do a jumping jack jumping 6 inches off floor and your 1/2 inch. We are still doing jumping jacks!!

As always, the general prudential rule applies.
