Day one Pre-op prep..hell

Today I started my day one of a 14 day preop diet. It is 800-900 calories of ONLY their surgeons food. I should eat every two hours. I went 3.5 hours at one point between "meals" becaue I thought I had time to get pick up my son from school. Boy was I wrong. I got home I was hungry, had a headache and was so crabby. Man had I known. I wanted to binge eat. I wanted to shove everything and anything down my throat to make me feel full. I didn't. I had my one protein bar I was supposed to have and then was like, not working! NO duh, it's only been down my throat for 30 seconds. Give it time. So I made myself keep busy. I made mseyfl think of my goals that I want to do when I'm losing weight, such as rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, and white water rafting. Guess what?! It worked! Overall, today was hard. i wanted to cheat so bad. I thought, "Well I"m only on 900 cal/day, they'd never know if I ate regular food and went over, as long as at the end of 2 weeks I lose SOMETHING I'm good." But I didn't. I don't want to let myself believe cheating is the norm and acceptable. Will I cheat sometimes? I"m sure I will. But I didn't want to open the gate of making it normalized and ok. SO here is to a successful day one! 897 Cal, 105 g Protein, 76 carbs, 17grams of sugar. :) I couldn't be more proud. Add me as a friend, I don't have many VSG friends on here. If you want to see my diary, let me know and I"ll give you the code.

Good for you! The pre-op will get easier as long as you stay with it and don't cheat. Keeping busy is the best thing. Also planning ahead. Always have something of your surgeons food in your purse so you aren't wanting to shove everything down your throat. You should be proud you did very well. I will be a friend with you. Apparently this board is not as active as other places. I am often at BP. Email me if your not sure what that site is.

Great job on your first day! It will be easier once you have surgery. I always find it interesting what different doctors require for pre-op diets. I struggled at night during the pre-op diet & i realized that if i removed myself from the livingroom/kitchen area and went upstairs to my bedroom, it was easier to avoid temptation. Its great you were able to focus on your goals to get you through. Keep up the good work! oh & feel free to add me if you like. Im 3 years out, dealing with regain & just getting back into the swing of things.
