Hey yall!
I am 3 weeks post op today. I have had a pretty easy time so far, just dealing with lots of emotions I think due to being off birth control for the first time in about 12 years. I am currently on purees and can not wait for regular foods again lol. I am dealing with some major cravings/head hunger this week. This gets better right? I am 29, not married, no kids, just me and two fur babies so I feel like it might be a little easier not having the temptation of other food in the house.

Hello! Single furmom here too! heh. Yes, not allowing the crap into your house is definitely a plus. Also, I rearranged my schedule to give myself the time to do all my food prep for the week on Sundays. That would be either actually cooking, cooling, and portioning, or taking frozen meats and putting them in the fridge. Whatever I need to do to make the day of as easy as possible. This includes chopping veggies and portioning any snacks including hummus. So I can just grab and go at any point. Then on work nights, I make any shakes for the next day, put all my food in the fridge in a pile, any non-refrigerated snacks go into my lunch bag...everything is ready, no excuses. It's the same for my gym bag, it's packed and blocking the door so I have to literally trip over it to forget it, lol. It really is all about planning.
Not only is the birth control messing with you, but there's definitely a grieving process as your life changes. On top of that, our body stores hormones in fat cells, as we drop weight quickly where you do think those hormones end up? Back in our system. WEEEEE! It's been a roller coaster. I've had PMDD for years, so I've handled the ups and downs a bit better than many. Oh. I never went back on my birth control. My period has been regular since October. First time ever.
The head hunger. At first it was constant, but since I couldn't eat much and really didn't want to, I got it under control quickly. Now...the week before my period hits. OMG. INTENSE. I'm 5 1/2 months post-op, and still have not FELT hunger. So, I know when I'm searching for food I need to step back, breathe and think. That time of the month (this week!) I take my snacks for work and break them into smaller portions so I have the feeling of MORE. I'm eating less, but more often. I don't follow the strict "eat x times a day". I have my macros set up and make sure I get them all in by dinner, never was a nighttime snacker, so dinner is it for me.
If you haven't noticed from other posts...I like to talk. HA! Mon - Thurs, while I'm at work, I'm here to answer any questions, or chit chat!
Good luck and keep us posted!0
