I am a superhero pretending to be normal.

Hi. I am new here. I am 36, a mother of 3, and have Fibromyalgia and an alphabet soup of acronyms that come with it. I unfortunately went on Lyrica for pain and gained something like 80lbs before my Dr. Took me off. So here I am trying to mitigate the side effects of current and past medication that quite frankly are marginally effective and may be damaging my internal organs. I sat down to write down my symptoms once again for the doctor and discovered something truly amazing. I can see, smell, feel and hear more than "normal" people. I have tremendous pain tolerance due to lots of practice. Unfortunately I live in a world for normal people and it is just too much, it is painful, distracting and exhausting. "Normal" people don't understand how clothing can be painful or light can be intolerable. What can I say? If I can do 50% of "normal" that makes me a SuperHero. I play the game of life on the highest difficulty level and I WILL WIN.

I get it. Have RA. My alter ego is that of a mild mannered homemaker with a can do attitude that can clean, cook and nurture in a single bound but inside I'm in a battle for my life. A smoldering fire lurks and lightning comes from my fingertips. Get to close and I may jump out of my own skin. Who can tell? No one. It's a great disguise!0
