Feeding the family....

Sorry for creating this new feed BUT I need some advice, thoughts, etc.
I have been so good making healthier food choices and watching my caloric intake.
However, we are going camping this weekend and what is in my buggy for the family:
Hot Dogs
Smores Stuff
Donuts
Cinnamon Rolls
Chips
Sports Drinks
Deli Ham
American Cheese
Buns
Now, I am not going to eat this stuff BUT they are. I am feeling SUPER guilty about feeding my children and my hubby this junk!
How do you transition the entire family over to healthy eating habits?
Don't get me wrong, they will eat healthy foods if I put them on the table BUT:
#1 it's expensive for me to feed 3 men healthy foods all the time
#2 it's not socially acceptable to take veggie trays and egg whites on a camping trip.
Sigh....
Thinking out loud.....

Pick your battles. Don't try to change everything. Think small changes and think of adding items not taking away items. Like maybe this trip bring a bag of apples...filling, fiber, sweet or add that veggie salad with the meal....make the potato salad with half yogurt and less mayo....so they may eat less for dinner/dessert. I had 4 boys I raised and 1 foster daughter, there just was no major changes to camping food, only additional options. They have hollow legs- eat you out of house and home, lol..
Lots of lighter or healthy version recipes. I like the site " Organize yourself skinny" (?..ill double check) she has a family and budget- great family friendly healthy recipes.
Have fun on your trip!0 -

I have committed my family rather they like it or not....I hear a lot that they miss beef;-) The grocery store is taking me about twice as long now. I buy the raw chicken tenders instead of the breast because it $2 a pound cheaper even though it is the same meat. We eat a lot of pork and soups because I can feed them meat and sneak all the vegetables and again pork is cheap. I don't buy any junk and stay on the outside aisle of the market. I want to be clear, I am not a super Mom, I hate grocery shopping and I found myself in the kitchen probably more than I want too. But my family is healthier than they were six months ago. I cook breakfast but have gotten creative. Adding eggs to left over pork taco soup makes good breakfast. Two weekends ago I spent some time prepping some meals and that really helped. Camping I do like Jenny suggested...we eat junk but I also add in some healthy choices. Cucumbers instead of chips, apples, and we eat lots of peanut butter on those type of trips. I am hoping with my youngest he won't know any other way to eat....You will find the balance.

I agree with making small changes, a little at a time AND with adding things/options in rather than initially removing things. The other big thing we've done is taught the kids about portions. They can eat as much salad as they want, but certain food items MUST be eaten in portions...like bacon for example.0
