Surge- workout option

Hey, just upgraded to the surge from the flex... it's a lot different. I was wondering what exactly the "workout" option would be used for? I do go to a zumba/dance type of class a couple days a week. would i chose this option while there? and then would i change the activity later? I'm not really sure. Thank you

It merely makes it easier to assign a text label to the Activity Record that will be created so you can see your stats later.
It does nothing regarding those stats.
Some options turn on GPS or disable automatically.

You can still edit the Activity Record later for perhaps correcting the end time, or the title for more meaning, or notes.

All for ease of reviewing later.

Because if you did nothing, the stats would still be in your daily stats - you just couldn't look at them separate.
With upgrade though, Surge may attempt to start a workout automatically, guess what you are doing, and pick a workout type, so it can create that Activity record.
