Oh gawd yes! I've had surgery three times before, so knew everything would alright. BUT...the night before I made a blubbering "GOODBYE" video because I realized my trust had not been updated since I moved. I was a nervous wreck, but knew everything would be fine. My surgery was in the afternoon, so I had to sit at home until noon.

My suggestion when you get there...lots of deep breaths. Figure out a happy place and go there. My niece had just had a role in her school production of "Alice in Wonderland" and went there and how proud I was of her. Previous surgeries I woke up belligerent and crying. This time I went out making people laugh (I was quoted as saying something like, "I'm going to have tea with the Red Queen! *my niece's role in the play*) and woke up telling my mother to please go home, there was no reason for her to be there. She was shocked as I would SCREAM for her the previous surgeries, lol.

Just got to the hospital...I have had this odd calm about me but it's in my head that I need to fix..lol. I have been trying to breathe deeply and think about good things after surgery..seeing my daughter and husband, picking up our new dog on Saturday, etc.

Focus not on seeing them AFTER surgery, try focusing on happy memories. Focus on something your daughter has done NOT related to this that makes you proud, or laugh, or smile. Focus on how much fun playing with that dog will be! Focus on anything NOT related to the hospital and what's going on. You've got this!
