Morning All~
My husband just bought a treadmill. I'm super pumped but have never really used one for any length of time. Do you treadmill experts out there have any advice for beginner workouts? Do you have an app you prefer to help with workouts? I seem to do ok with some incline but my speed isn't quite up there(yet).

Good morning Karen, you lucky girl you!! Since you have this treadmill for a lifetime, there is no rush to get running at all. I would probably begin with speedwalking for a couple weeks. Followed by a mix of speedwalking and light jogging at a speed where I am comfortable. Overtime, I would track how long I am able to jog and try to surpass that time as the weeks pass. At first It might look like some speedwalking, then a 2 minute jog, then back to speedwalking, then 2 minute jog. Where the following week might have 3 minute jog intervals; and so forth. Eventually you will build up the strength and endurance to jog longer and cancel out the speedwalking.
Although it is probably a good idea to end every run/job with a nice steady walk instead of immediately shutting down the machine.
Good luck! I am super jealous!2 -

If you enjoy binge-watching Netflix, pick a show you want to watch and *only* watch it when you're walking on the treadmill. It's a good way to get the feel for the machine, you get your workout in and get to catch up on whatever show you want!
If you're ready to go beyond that, I agree with Shawna's suggestions. A slow buildup is a good way to work on your goal with a lower risk of injury from trying for too much at once. A mile is a mile, no matter if you walk it or run it2 -
Thank you!!!1

I'm used to have a great treadmill, it bit it on our move last summer. I mostly used in winter months and time went by fast as I watched tv or a movie.
I would play games like go faster and more uphill for a certain length of time then increase. I miss it a lot. If the time goes by slow for you or you look at timer too much get a small towel to cover it while watching tv.1
