Non-Scale Victories (NSV)

As important as the numbers on the scale can be, it's also important to notice the changes with your body outside of that number. I'd like this to be a thread where we can talk about our non-scale victories we have as we go through our journeys. I'll start:
I have three from this weekend. I had a friend visiting from out of town, and she gave my arm a squeeze and said how muscley/hard my arms were getting! We also did a bit of shopping and I tried on a dress that was a size smaller than normal that fit (L instead of an XL). Lastly, I had another 5k yesterday, and I already dropped 2 minutes off my run time from the one I did last week! It's awesome to be seeing the difference in my body, my fitness, and that others are starting to notice!!
What about all of you? What NSV do you have?

I went shopping in a different store and instead of buying different pastries as a treat I bought edamame beans and sweet potato noodles!7

i am so happy that you put this disscusion up. I can learn so much from it. I dont know what to add, but it is really helpful.1

This thread is awesome because we need to revel in all our victories big and small along the way to stay on track. It would be cool if we could do this regularly and we each find something to be proud about. For me I am finally learning balance and realize that I do not have to go to extremes. I can enjoy the same things I used to eat in moderation.3

I went to see The Jungle Book with my friends last night and normally when I sit down, I tuck my stomach into my pants to hide my fluff. But this time I let it be because I barely noticed it under my shirt. I mean it was there, but so much smaller.9

Our niece came to visit this afternoon. I made a nice healthy meal and decided to bake her a little cake. (Her birthday was on Friday.) I had a slice. Not the slice I would normally have (and seconds, of course). I had a sliver, enjoyed it thoroughly and didn't feel a need to have any more. This is Huge for me! Being able to enjoy something, even if it's less of it, and not hear me call myself names in my head! Learning that moderation is acceptable!!9

I am ready to go out in the garage and find the clothes that didn't fit me and try them on. I 'm pretty confident that some of it will fit me now.6

Everybody probably already saw this on my. Red feed today xD :: but I was able to pull my riding boots all the way up today, when in the past I couldn't get them up farther than half way.
Here's another good one... I only wonder if it's TMI haha... During adult time (hahah) hubs didn't have to stretch as much over my belly to kiss me. Yay smaller belly.4 -

Well this week I noticed that I get full pretty easily when eating a meal. My daughter and I went to lunch a couple of days ago and I ate only 1/2 the sandwich and a few of the fries(yes, i ate fries ) and water. I was STUFFED for hours!3

The last day we were with my mother-in-law, she took us out to eat for helping her through her surgeries and recovery these past few months. She chose the restaurant, which has only ONE choice that had a reasonable number of calories and nutrition. I learned this by asking for a nutrition guide and was given a 3-ring binder that took a while to navigate. Once I located the one salad that would work - I had to cut it in half to keep it reasonable, so I asked for a to-go-box to be brought with my meal. Before taking a bite, I put half in the container and closed the lid! It was tough, but I did it. She has also lost 24 pounds while I was there and has promised to try and stick to the healthy eating plan. She was encouraged by my commitment to get healthy for myself, my family, and those who will take care of me one day. That is what keeps me working out every day - knowing I want to play with my grandkids as they grow up and be healthy to enjoy them. It is so much easier now with you all on the journey with me!7

I chose a chicken Caesar salad when I went with my boyfriend and his mother for dinner at the restaurant she chose. It was the first time I ever realized restaurant salads are twice the size they need to be. I ate all the chicken with half the greens, dressing, and cheese. Luckily the "croutons" were slices of toast sitting way off to the side.2

Been busy today throwing a party for my almost 4 year old. Made him a large chocolate cake with ganache topping, to stop me from Licking the spoon or bowl I threw them straight into dish water. At his party I ate the fruit and a cheese sandwich. Really pleased with my control.5

I baked the avocado brownies again, but this time I really did cut them the recommended size. And I have still only eaten one per sitting And I thought of having a second one this afternoon, but I had an APPLE. Baby steps!4

I haven't had soda in 3 weeks and I used to drink three 20-ounce bottles a day!4

I have gone to work, avoided the gremlins in the break room and everywhere else for three days in a row and ate only good food! You guys for me this is HUGE!!!!6

I never thought that at 158 I'd fit into my old fave jeans because I bought them at 145. But guess what?! Today I tried em on and they FIT like a glove! I proudly wore them to work and not once did I feel uncomfortable or restricted. It's really crazy because at 163, just a 5lb difference, they wouldn't go up passed my thighs....
I've never measured, only weighed, but I think I'm going to start measuring and refer to that rather than the scale (although I will still weigh but def not obsessively like before). It's obvious now that a good chunk of my gains are muscle. And there I was beating myself up over it!5 -
