It's up to you. A lower activity level will give you fewer calories but a higher adjustment from Fitbit. A higher level starts with more calories but gets a smaller adjustment.

It's really up to you. That said, I average probably 12000 steps a day with a very few at 10K and several days a week at 14-16K. I have my activity level set at lightly active and always earn extra calories. Usually 250-500 extra. Yesterday I had a busier day and had 15,750 steps and got an additional 660 calories.

I'd rather start out negative and have to "earn" my extra calories, but know I'm going to rather than have a huge adjustment. I try to eat all my extra calories, but don't always. Like yesterday, I was busy and didn't snack as much and still had over 900 calories left after dinner, but I had a meeting to go to. Had a nice bowl of ice cream when I got home, but still left almost 800 calories on the table! I'll make up some of those at a breakfast meeting today where there will be lots of goodies...

That's one of the great things about having a Fitbit, in my opinion - your Activity Level setting in MFP is purely a matter of personal preference. Without an activity tracker, getting it right is very important. With one, it doesn't matter what you pick, at the end of the day, you'll have the same number of calories to eat.

I currently average close to 20K steps a day, but I keep it set to sedentary. In reality, outside of deliberate exercise I probably come closer to lightly active but my natural inclination is to be sedentary. Plus, I kind of hate negative adjustments and like seeing big positive ones, although I know it all comes out the same.

Ditto everything here. I also average 20,000 steps a day, and have mfp set to sedentary.
