I posted this question in the summary, so I hope to get a response here. If you do workout A,B,A in week one do you do B,A,B in week two? Or is it always A,B,A?

A,B,A, then B,A,B. Whatever you did last time, do the other one next time :)

ideally, you just keep on alternating regardless of what day it is in a week. that way you give the specific muscle groups involved in each lift a consistent pattern of rest periods before you need to use them again in exactly the same way that you used them last time.

but i'm a big believer that 'functional' means more than just being able to hoist a toddler because deadlifting is a natural movement blah blah. it also means 'functional within the total frame of your life.' so i don't think it's the end of the world if, for instance, the only monday timeslot you have in the gym is the same timeslot as that guy who should just stick a card with his name on it on the only rack in the place.

my policy is: so long as i do all of the prescribed lifts within a given week, then i'm good. i try to space them out, of course . . . but if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.
