Baseline

Hey all -
I just started CrossFit a few weeks ago. When I did my original baseline workout I had to modify my push ups (from knees) and my pull ups (to jump pull ups). I completed in 8:44.
I retook my baseline yesterday. I had set a goal for myself to finish in under 6:30. After a warm up, I got started. I did 1/2 my push ups Rx and 1/2 from knees. Still jump pull ups. In three short weeks, I dropped my time down to 5:56.
Now I want to finish with no modification to push ups and doing band supported pull ups. I can do it!
What's your baseline story? How did your first retest open your eyes to how CrossFit was making you stronger?

i did "nancy" with just the womens bar (35lbs) back in december when i started in 19:20 and wrote "eff this wod" next to it. i did it a few weeks ago (unbroken!!) rx in 15:59
i need to re-test "DT" from my first month of crossfit, and I have managed to shave 4 minutes off my "annie" time0 -
I did 15-12-9 of push press 55lbs air squats and 200 m run, it took me 15:34 minutes to complete it when I took it again two months later I was done in 4:55 and still did another Wod afterwards0

We actually just re-did our baseline yesterday. When I did it 4 months ago on my first day of CrossFit it took me almost 10 minutes and I had to do my push-ups from my knees and it was a struggle to do the pull-ups with the biggest band. I cut 3 minutes off my time in 4 months! Took me 6:44 yesterday. I still did my push-ups from my knees but I've moved down several bands for the pull-ups.
Just typing this out it goes to show that I really have made some big improvements. I was actually pretty disappointed with my time yesterday because I was the last one done by far and the only one in my class of 10 that did not RX. Turns out everyone in class yesterday had been doing CF for well over a year if not 2 or 3 years so there is no way my few months can even compare. I'll get there!0 -
I wish I could remember what ours was.
We are doing a week's worth of baseline workouts and 1/3RM lifts this week that we will revisit in about 3 months. That should give me a real good idea of my progress and what continues to need improving.0 -
Interesting to see what people did for baseline - being new, I assumed there was one workout Great work everybody! It feels good to see those times drop!0

Did any of you people in Crossfit ever think about the fact that if Crossfit wasn't so extreme, it would be a lot more popular?
I know you can scale anything, but the goal for most Crossfit workouts is WAY more than the average person can do, even after years of Crossfitting.
So why not have more attainable goals??????
Because we like to challenge ourselves, because we like working outside our "comfort zone" because we are not lazy and we DO WORK, because this is what FLOATS OUR BOAT, while yours is to sit and attack us crossfitters. We will not die, we will continue, stop trying to deter us!0 -

She's just one of those people who has likely never pushed herself physically to an uncomfortable place in her entire life, so she will never understand.
Most CF workouts are WAY more than I can do. RIGHT NOW. Thus the concept of scaling to make them still tough as nails, but doable.
She must be the Empress of Free Time given how much she spends on this sort of garbage.0
