Has anyone gone to see a Naturopath about their PCOS? Would you recommend it?

I have not, and I would LOVE to, but I can't afford $400 per visit PLUS supplements and such. But I have a great PCP who does a lot of her own research and an endocrinologist willing to treat symptoms and who reminds me that PCOS tends to HIDE most normal symptoms of other conditions, so I consider myself blessed. I've done a lot of research on my own, and I take a good bit of supplements. However, I'll be the first to admit that if I could find one medical professional who would be willing to handle my entire BIG BAG of health issues, I'd jump all over that in a doggoned heartbeat! Looking forward to more responses!
Best of luck to you.
P.S. I forget which site it is, but one of the PCOS reference sites has a search for PCOS specializing Naturopath medical professionals... If I run back across the link, I'll post it.1 -
I do I would reccomended it! I'm in canada and it is 130 ish for initial visit and under 50 for follow ups. Great insight in treating the body as a whole....good luck. I would find someone that'd reccomended. I have seen the same nd for 20 years.3

Well I sent an email to one place as they were closed after lunch to get more information. I have no idea what to expect and not really sure what everything they do, especially regarding PCOS. I'm not exactly prepared to book an appointment just yet. The first one is 195 here and I'm in Alberta. There was another place but it was 240! My benefits cover it, but it looks like I have to pay up front.0

I had herbal and acupuncture treatment to get my period back after getting off BC to have my second child. I had tried metformin and didn't like how I felt on it so I gave naturopathy a try. It worked for me after about 3 acupuncture treatments and maybe 6 months of herbs. Everyone responds differently and the treatments were about 100 for me not including herbs. Good luck, only one way to find out if it's for you.0

Even 240 is cheap for an unorthodox doctor. We've paid $400+ USD for my son's holistic doctor appointments. Worth every penny, though.0 -
I have PCOS and I also have no insurance so I can't go to the doc and get blood tests and medication to help curb the side effects. The last clinic I was at suggested Chaste tree berry supplements to get my cycle back but they give me a rash. Has anyone else tried anything on the holistic side of things that seemed to help them as far as supplements go? I really can't afford to spend $$$ every month on acupuncture and such...0

Have you looked into Maca Root? I just stopped taking my supplement bc there was a weird warning on the label that I looked up- the company says they have to acknowledge that the maca is grown in Peru where sometimes lead content in the soil isn't measured so they have to have the warning, but it freaked me out enough to stop. However, if you google Maca or Maca and hormones it's pretty inspirational hype that may be based on effectiveness.0
