You don't need any supplements, including protein. I personally have decided to take protein because it's easy, it tastes good, and it helps towards my protein goal. But, I could easily make my goal with real food. It's a personal choice. Nothing is needed except lifting weights.

You could take what ever you feel you need, but you shouldn't need any supplements if you eat a well balanced diet with adequate protein, fruits, veggies, healthy fats, and carbs.

peanut butter and hard boiled eggs are my supplements lol!

although I have to confess my farts are GHASTLY and I think it's the eggs (I'm only averaging 2 a day!). They even bring tears to my eyes lol!

I get yelled at a lot for farting when I eat eggs. My fiance drinks a large glass of milk (he's lactose intolerant) to get back at me. We always recommend that people call before coming to visit.

Too much protein in general does this too me. My almost 5 year old has told people he had the "protein farts" since he heard me warning him of it so often until I realized where the cutoff needed to be. :drinker:

I take a multivitamin and cod liver oil (although I'm about to switch to Omega 3-6-9) purely because I'm too lazy to fine tune my diet to provide those specific micronutrients consistently. My nails, skin and hair have improved dramatically since I started the omega supplement..

I also use a protein shake and a recovery shake because they're a quick and easy way of hitting my protein target and reducing the post-workout jelly-legs. The whey shake is also cheaper, gram-for-gram of protein, than any meat I can find. It's a sad indictment of the food industry!

ooh yes, I forgot that, I do take glucosamine and cod liver oil, and also have started taking a multivitamin just to see if it makes a difference. I started the glucosamine and cod liver oil when I was trying to be a runner and my knees objected; I've continued as I think it's probably a good thing with the amount of flexibility my joints demonstrate when squatting etc, and my knees are so crepitous (crunchy!) a little oiling isn't going to hurt! :)

I take protein shakes purely down to being busy at work - as its takes 2 secs to shake one up for lunch.

I also take iron tablets, biotin (trying to help my hair grown) and magnesium & zinc.

On the eggs - I eat at least 3 large ones a day (sometimes more ...) - I'm gluten intolerant and this is my default breakfast! no protein egg farts from me! - but when I used to have cereal (before I got diagnosed) - the wheaty ones were always the ones to watch with me (he he he)

I think this is hilariously adorable

I have a protein shake after lifting and I take a multivitamin when I remember. I've thought about adding some other things, but I don't like taking loads of pills.

I finally gave in and started buying protein powder, after realizing that there is only so much Greek yogurt and ricotta I can eat in a day. Even though it seems expensive when you buy the container, it *is* a lot cheaper gram for gram than meat, and even milk.

Other than that, I do not take any pills or powders, everything comes from food.

I eat eggs because I like them--but they are not all that amazing as a source of protein, actually, compared to dairy or, say, chicken breasts.
