Oh my goodness. For those that participate, I think I'm the veteran! I'm eight months out. Tips is so general, I don't even know where to start! Most of my "wisdom" is in other threads!
*Weigh everything, measurements are so difficult. Don't rely on packages that say "one serving" still weigh it. Be honest with yourself, don't "forget" to log things.
*Try to preplan your days so you don't end with an unexpected surplus or deficit. Be prepared. Uncertainty happens, it's life, make sure you have access to something healthy to eat to get you through.
*Don't beat yourself up. We all have lapses in judgment, that's life. Don't wait until tomorrow to get back on track, wait for the next bite.
*Join a local support group. If you don't have one, join ones online and start your own locally. While online support is great there's nothing like having those people face to face to talk to.
*Move more. Don't obsess. Find your moderation.
*Goodwill is your friend, don't waste good money when your sizes are still changing rapidly.
*Take photos often. Side by sides are what helps you "see" sometimes. Even if you don't have a true "before", take a "current" and take them often. Both face shots and body shots.
*Take your vitamins and follow up with regular blood tests. If something feels off, call your surgeon or your PCP. Don't wait. It's your body, only you are in it. Don't ask for advice online. If you feel something is off, don't ignore your gut.
If I think of more, I'll add them...if there are specific areas you want to know, ask. *smile*1 -
Nicole really is awesome and really can't add more to what she said. One thing I also do is use healthy cooking recipes - I love Skinnytaste and EmilyBites.
I am learning the hard way that I really need to slow down. If I eat too fast, I throw up (happened a little while ago at work as a matter of fact).
Chewable papaya enzyme helps when you don't feel well and you feel as though food is stuck. I always feel better after throwing up and sometimes drinking water helps it happen faster. Not that getting to that point is great but if you do...2
