3000+ steps in one hour, while standing in place.

Ok so I just got my Fitbit Surge yesterday and wore it to work today for the first time. I am a table game dealer in a casino, so at work I stand in place for an hour at a table dealing. I understand that the Fitbit tracks all kinds of activity and uses the word steps somewhat loosely, however over 3,000 steps while standing still seems super high to me and I'm concerned that how much I'm constantly moving my arms around with the cards is causing it to give a false reading.

Did it also give you a high number of calories to go with the extra 3000 steps? If the phantom steps are seen as low intensity then your calorie burn won't go up much. However, if it does give you too many calories then it might be better for you to use a tracker that isn't worn on your wrist while you're at work. You could always turn off the heart rate function and then take off your Surge and put it in your pocket (or some other discrete spot) while you're dealing. Or, get a Zip or a One to use at work.0

There doesn't seem to be spike in calories so I guess I'll pay attention to the differences in steps taken on days I work and steps taken on days off and adjust my target number from there.0
