What schedule goes best for your routine?

Do you find you have more energy first thing in the morning? Do you need breakfast and/or coffee first? Do you have to be awake for a while and maybe take a mid-morning workout or lunch break? Does the schedule make it easier to just go right after work or maybe at night? Are you someone that randomly can't sleep at 3am and figures that a good time to go to the 24hr workout location?

Personally I'm best with early morning most days as it doesn't detract from family time. It was a rough schedule to get into but now, as long as i get to bed on time, it's routine. I started in conjunction with the daylight savings switch in November one year as I was awake anyway and figured it a better option than just laying in bed not being able to get back to sleep. Since then I have continued the morning schedule with at least one of the Saturday morning options most weeks. Sometimes scheduling works out to allow a night workout as well although it is harder to get to class on time or find an option i like there but nothing wrong with a more open workout sometimes.

I'm about 18 months into morning workout routines myself. I wouldn't say I'm a morning person, but getting the workout done first thing pretty much guarantees that I can get my workout in. As I mentioned, I work downtown and mainly take the Jo transit bus to and from, so I'm up at 5a to catch the early bus, do my workout at the gym in my building, then up to work. This also enables me to have a cup of coffee and be up and about for an hour+ before the workout. After work, I usually don't have as much energy and schedules change throughout the day, so trying to fit in a workout at lunch or after work is hard to do.

Lately, I've been running every other day, so I will sometimes run downtown instead of using the gym or will run near home and take a later bus in. Weekends I mostly just take a long walk or run if its a run day, but still try and get that done in the mornings.

I'm so not a morning person but it is the best time to fit it in and a morning workout helps boost your metabolism for the rest of the day.
I'll try to go for a walk on a nice day but a workout is a bit much for me, having to take time to change and shower off it feels like there wouldn't be enough time to get more than a warm up in. It's been nice out, good for you on the running! Do you have any goals with it? Any fun runs or other competitions to prep for and keep yourself improving?

Thanks. I did the C25K program and wanted to improve my time once I graduated from that... my time was 29:44, which isn't horrible for a newbie like myself, but still would like to improve before actually running a 5K. All the forums suggested the best way to improve the time was to move on to the B210K, so I have been doing that the past couple of weeks. My son (he's 22) said he would run a 5K with me, so trying to see when he will be ready for one. I know there are several in July and August to pick from, so would like to decide soon.

Nice! Yeah, I'm debating about doing the Lenexa Freedom Run 5k on Monday the 4th. Of course I haven't done any distance running in a long time so.. still debating. Of course i'd only be competing against myself and setting a baseline just to see how I'm doing.
I tried to set an event on this page for it but it never posted. I'm hoping to get around to posting a few events like the around town 5k and fun runs and such. Bike rides of course. Just giving people options of things to attend and an awareness of what is going on around town.
