Alta Users - Not counting steps accurately. Suggestions?

Got my Alta yesterday to replace my Charge and am so disappointed. It's not counting my steps accurately. I tried resetting it according it Fitbit's site suggestions, but still inaccurate. Finally put my Charge on next to it this afternoon to compare and yep. Extremely inaccurate. I'd say right now it's 2,000 steps behind the Charge after only 2 hours. And very disappointed to learn it doesn't count stairs. Suggestions???

There are masses of complaints about this issue on the fitbit Alta forums. I have the Alta and haven't had any issues, maybe you got one of the dud ones
